The Last Month
Well... it's been a month so I thought I'd let you all know what I was up to. Currently sitting next to Neumy on the couch and watching the Hawks not rebound with the rents. Hmm... what a GREAT way to spend a Friday night! Sarcasm..... I do love the rents tho. Anyway... after I do this I think I'll head to Starbucks for some quality homework time. I am sooo interesting!
Anyway... school has been going ok. It was hard to get back into the swing of things after I got back to school after the funeral and everything. It was so strange. I'd been living this other life for almost a week and then it was back to reality. Reality sucks by the way. Spent a lot of time with Kaitlin and Symens just hanging out and watching movies. I was sick the next weekend which sucked. Went out on a very expensive date with Kaitlin and Todd. Todd is the chair of my subcommittee of senate and was Kaitlin's orientation leader. She has basically been in love with him since the beginning so when we found out he was up for grabs at the date auction, we picked him up! I'm not going to tell you what we paid for him because that is just embarrassing. The date was so fun. Included dinner at Red Lobster, I'd never been there before, a Movie, Glory Road (ehh...), and dance lessons, so much fun! It also included an extra but you will have to ask to hear about that one!
Otherwise it was back to classes and friends and dorm life... the usual. People that knew what had happened sort of shyed away from me at first. Didn't know what to say or how to act. I wanted to scream! It was so hard because I didn't have a place to go. There was no where to go where I could be alone and no one would ask questions or stare blankly. That is why I spent so much time in Symens' room. The guys there didn't ask questions and they didn't feel sorry for me and they left me alone. I was free to have fun and do whatever. Kaitlin and I just chilled really. I felt bad becasue I hadn't been spending as much time with the roommate and the other girls who spend a lot of time in my room. Didn't watch our scheduled shows and didn't eat with them either. It was sort of hard because I was really mad at J for awhile. She tried to be my mom and I just didn't need that. It's really hard to explain and I wont get into it here. I've been doing a lot of thinking and what not and I still don't know what to do about other people, but I know what I need to do for me. And right now, that is all that is important.
The last few weeks have pretty much been a blur at school. I'm at home for spring break, I know... super early, but it is because of our schedule. Friday and Saturday I pretty much just hung around the house. Saturday I did the JDRF Walk for the Cure with my friend Becca. She was diagnosed with juvenile (sp?) diabetes three years ago and since I was home I wanted to do the walk with her. Two other people we graduated with were there and it was good to see both of them. Then I had lunch with Joshua, went to Poozit's jazz band thing, which was AMAZING!, and then did a bunch of errands. I got home, took a shower, and put in a movie. I had gotten so tea at Starbucks so I made that and slowly sipped while I did my laundry and relaxed. My friend Steven came over late and hung out for awhile. It was good to see him. Sunday I woke up early and drove the the ginormous town of Delhi, Iowa. And when I say ginormous I mean the size of my high school! A few girls from school and I were going to leave for Chicago but weather didn't let us leave til Monday morning. Did I mention that I was going 35 mph for quite awhile when going down highway 20?! Yeah... stupid weather. And then on the way home it poured. God must not have wanted me to have good driving conditions.
Chicago was good. We stayed with Jessi's super rich uncle. His house was beautiful! He took us out for Thai food on Monday and then to a semi-formal french/American restaurant on Tuesday night. We drove his Jag with a beeping sensor that let him know when he was too close to something when reversing. Yeah... life of the rich and famous! While in Chi town we saw Michigan Ave., The aquarium, where I picked out Dad's new fish, the art museum, and Navy Pier. It was a lot of fun. We took the train everywhere and then walked from the stations. We had decent weather on Monday, wet and misty but not bad, and then Tuesday it was pretty nice and sunny. We stopped at an outlet mall on the way back and spent a lot of money at the Gap outlet... what can I say... I'm a fan of the Gap!
Wednesday Steven talked me into stopping in Ames on the way home to go to their Intramural championship basketball game. I had dinner with Sara and one of her friends and then we hung out with the guys for awhile before the game. They were behind in the beginning but came back and won. Apparently they had lost to this team previously in the season. So... Go Fighting Banana Slugs! Woot. After the game we went back to Martin and hung out. The guys celebrated like champions and decided they didn't need to do anything because... They were the champions! I ended up staying in Ames and watched Collateral with Steven. Good movie. Anyway... Got up early Thursday morning and drove hom to go to work at the golf course. Dave and Steve were working so it was good. Got to catch up with them. Had to learn the new touch screen cash register. Basically I've never been formally trained on the ones at the Vee and I get them so I played with the one at the course for awhile and I got it down I think. It is so much easier than the old register that sucked! So... whoo hoo for a pay check!
Tomorrow Monica said she might stay here on her way thru back from Baltimore. Haven't heard from her tho so I'm not sure. Anywho... Sunday it is back to school. Ehh... I'm hoping things will get better after break. Four weeks left of classes then Easter and then finals. I can't believe this year is almost over. It all went so fast! Rooming for next year is due the week after we get back. I hope there is someone working on that over break. I have a good idea of who is and my guess is she is perfecting it as I sit here and type. Well, I think this update is done. I'll try to keep you posted thru March and April. Then in May it is MEXICO! I'm so excited!!!!!
Later all....
