The Perfect Day
Well, as you all know, well most of you. Tony and Sara finally tied the knot on Saturday. First off, they could not have asked for a more perfect day. It was beautiful. Perfect, only a little chilly in the shade, but well worth it to see two of my favorite people in the world start their lives together officially. So...I'm going to try to do my best to give adequate justice to one of the best day's of my life, and most definitely of Tony and Sara's and every other member of the family.
The day started off sort of shaky. Had to drive to Cedar Rapids from Urbandale cause it was Homecoming at J-town on Friday night. Got to CR about 11 and met daddy in the parking lot. Got all our crap into the hotel and went upstairs to see Aunty Stacy before she became vital to the wedding events. She looked absolutely gorgeous! But she had a run in her hose and needed to get new ones. Only problem was that she was due at the park in 20 minutes. So I ran down the stairs, jumped in my car, and went to K-mart, Big Line if you will, to get her new hose. I actually got to the park and left again before the wedding party arrived for pictures. It was pretty funny cause Maggie was there and I looked terrible when I first got there. Then after I got all cleaned up she was like, "whoa...I think I met you, but you didn't look like that." So after the hose dilemma everything was pretty much ok.
Sarah and I finished getting ready and then us and mommy headed out for the park. We arived about 2:00 and stood around talking, taking pictures, and thank god, not crying yet. Sarah and I got sort of bored while all this was going on so we decided to mess around with the camera. Some of our work can be found below. Ok, so for some reason my pictures wont load!
Anyway, the ceremony started with Tony walking all the units and grandunits down to their seats. The best part was when he looked at me and and patted his lapel cause his flower was doing something strange. I had already begun the waterworks by this time so a momentary laugh was very much so needed and appreciated. The ceremony was beautiful. The vows... only the type that could be written by two writers. Breath taking...and of course made me cry along with the rest of the family members sitting in our row. Sarah just kept asking herself how she got into a family of "blubbering idiots." I think that is the phrase she coined anyway.
After the ceremony we all picked up our chairs and headed into the lodge for beverages and chat. Then there was the excellent dinner! I'm not just saying that because I wasn't eatting Mensa food, it really was awesome. And the cupcakes...besides the flowers on top that turned my tongue pink...they were good but not quite as good as Aunt Stacy's graduation cupcakes! Then the speaches started. Oh dear lord. I cried again, and then again some more. They were good, from the heart, and with the exception of Tony's three paged typed speech, relatively quick.
This isn't really doing justice to the wedding. Most of you were there, you know how great it was. The day was perfect, the couple was perfect, all the family that could be was there. It was all just so beautiful. And Carrie, sp?, with the exception of Dana of course, was my favorite bridesmade. HAHA. She cracked me up and of course I'm partial as she teaches my language. Anywho...
Everything was perfect and the bride and groom are I'm sure having the time of their life in Mexico right now. I'm sure Tony's retelling of the day will be way better than what I just threw together for you. And to the bride and groom...you should be so happy with everything. I'm so happy for you and you both looked gorgeous on Saturday. Sara, you were beautiful, everything about you was glowing. And Tony, you know you always looked good in a tux. My daddy and the rest of the groomsdudes did too! Alrighty...time for me to do something productive. I wish my pictures would load but they wont for some reason...hmm...
later all
