Family and Chaos
Wow! It has been awhile. I know that volleyball is over and that I should be writing more often but my homework has been heavy and I don't have time. I used to write before games becuase I didn't want to do my homework which is why I wrote during volleyball season. And now that is is the new year it means show choir season is right around the corner. I am actually very excited about show choir. We don't have our costumes yet and we perform in two weeks but never the less, I am still excited. We also only have two monday night rehersals before we perform which could be bad as well. I think we will get our butts kicked at LinnMar and that will teach us to work and we will be a lot better after.
With that said, the more important part of my life is my family and the time I got to spend with the over the holidays. Christmas with my dad's side can only be described in one word, chaotic. There were people EVERYWHERE! Although we did miss Scottie the Hottie as he was sick, still, there were plenty of people. My cousin Chad and his wife Holli brought their two kids Megan and Jake. They are about the cutest things I have ever seen. Jake and I bonded a little more this year. He carried his new rubber shark around and "bit" peoples noses off. It was quite humerous. And then we got into a poke war and he called me a turkey. Definitely one of the better names I have been called. Megan and my dad bonded in the kitched where he had to prevent her from eating all the cookies. She looked so cute in her new Christmas outfit. It was really nice that Chad and Holli could spend more time with us because the kids are older now. And of course everyone was jealous of the loot the little kids brought in!
I did however get a barbie from Dana. She is a fairy and her wings light up. Only Dana would buy me a barbie for Christmas. She looks very lovely perched atop my CD case. I also got a talking puppy from Aunt Stacy. You press one ear and it records what you say and then you press the other ear to hear the dog repeat it. Needless to say, the dog has aready been used for evil purposes. I believe right now it says, "Don't have sex, it makes babies," my sister. Followed by, "especially with albinos, " Ashley. It used to tell me it loved me everynight before I went to bed and now I just don't listen to it! With the puppy came a really cool blue bracelet. Very shiny. I also got magnetic beads, a big, shiny, pink ring, money, a gift card to Dillars, and a cute little jewelry box. It was a good Christmas.
On the other side things were a little less populated. My aunt and uncle, Roberta and Steve, and their grandkids, Morgan and Shea, came down in the afternoon and we opened gifts. I got a new hair straightener, money, and a cool bracelet. It was really good. My grandpa gave all of the kids a large chunk of change. The little kids were to open a savings account with it and mine was to use for college. It was a very nice gift and perhaps the best one I received. We had prime rib for dinner that night and lets just say that no one left hungary. It was so good.
Earlier that morning we had our family Christmas. It was good as well. I got a few clothes, a robe and mini coffee maker for college, Mean Girls on DVD, the Ryan Cabrera CD, some lotion and bath stuff, and some others. I was suprised when we woke up at 6:45 and not an hour earlier. Normally my sister "can't sleep" and we get up at the butt-crack to open gifts. But this year it wasn't too outrageous. The day after Christmas I went with Michael to his family Christmas on Lake Panorama. It was fun. And no, I wasn't too freaked out because I went to his dad's suprise party and all the same people were there so I had already met them once. Then the following day Michael and I did our little Christmas. I got him a picture frame with a picture of us from Halloween in it and my senior pictures. Then I made him one of those fleece tie blankets and bought him a DVD. He got me tickets to Mamma Mia and I am so excited! We went out for dinner that night and then we went back to my house and ended up spending the night mostly talking.
New Years was good as well. I went to Michaels becuase he had a party and we hung out there til about 1:00. By the end there weren't too many people there but that is an entirely different story and I eally don't feel like sharing. I just think some of our friends are crap right now that's all. On New Years day Aunt Stacy, Uncle Tony, Tony and Sarah came down for the Iowa game. Which I must add, was an outstanding game and the only play I saw was the very last one where Drew Tate hit some unknown kid in motion who ran in the touchdown to win the game! And I was at work when this happened so right after I saw that I had to get back to the Bakery. That night Michael came down and we all played Apples to Apples for probably three to four hours. It was funny though. It didn't help that most of the adults were a little enebriated(sp?), some more than others. But, it was still fun regardless. And I don't think Michael is too scarred.
